OPPORTUNITY

Microsoft made one of the boldest sustainability pledges in corporate history: to become carbon negative, water positive, zero waste, and land protective by 2030. But commitments alone don’t create change—Microsoft needed its 228,000+ employees across 190 countries to understand, believe in, and activate those goals. The Real Estate & Facilities team partnered with Artemis Ward to build a campaign that could translate high-level ambitions into everyday action.

SOLUTION

I designed the visual identity for It's in Our Nature, Microsoft's unifying internal sustainability campaign. This brand campaign seamlessly integrated within Microsoft's global brand ecosystem while maintaining its own distinct identity—specifically designed to help employees understand and engage with the company's real estate and facilities sustainability initiatives. The scalable design system achieved enterprise-wide adoption, becoming the foundational visual framework for Microsoft's sustainability communications across all internal channels.

The It's In Our Nature campaign design framework guided comprehensive materials spanning internal communications, digital signage, environmental graphics, editorial storytelling, and strategic social content that equipped regional teams with tailored toolkits, messaging frameworks, and workplace activations. The campaign was piloted in Microsoft's Dublin zero-waste initiative, which ultimately became the visual and strategic prototype for the company's global waste management rollout.
