To meet its 2030 carbon-negative pledge, Microsoft needed to rethink its operations—starting in the kitchen. At its Puget Sound headquarters, the company opened the first all-electric commercial kitchen capable of serving over 1,000 meals a day without gas. But the milestone wasn’t just about retrofitting a facility—it was about engineering change across policy, infrastructure, and culture. The challenge: how to share this achievement in a way that others could replicate, and be inspired by.
We partnered with Microsoft to transform this operational breakthrough into a compelling editorial experience. Through immersive storytelling and bold visual design, we created a magazine-style white paper that translated technical innovation into a human-centered narrative. Collaborating closely with culinary leads, sustainability strategists, and equipment engineers, we distilled the complexity of the project into a digestible, inspiring roadmap for organizations pursuing carbon-free dining.
Released alongside a supporting social campaign, the white paper positioned Microsoft as an industry leader at the intersection of sustainability, innovation, and infrastructure. The story resonated not only within Microsoft but across its business divisions and external partners—reinforcing the company’s role as a climate innovator and catalyzing momentum across global facilities teams eager to replicate the model. The success of the campaign further solidified a unified voice for Microsoft’s environmental storytelling across platforms and audiences.
